Traders and the general public that are waiting to get into shares once they are sure  a recovery is underway are likely to be disappointed  with the progress of shares then.
The largest gains always take place at the start of the upturn and once shares are trending upwards are likely to then increase just slightly better than the then inflation rate.The best time to make capital gain is now.
You might say that there is no work and no genuine recovery is underway.Of course you are correct,but the stock market preceeds events by about eighteen months.
This was the case in the  2002 recovery  and earlier recoveries as well.
In each case there was grumbling that the market was recovering too fast and running ahead of itself.
Of course there will be pullbacks ,but it can be noted that it always recovers to higher highs and higher lows.

Gold shares really only ocassionaly pay dividends,usually they they use any profits to expand their operations ,so its only capital gain one can talk about.
Then again they can waste money on something unproductive.This seems to be the path Anglogold has chosen by taking part in a  new venture,namely DRILLING FOR GOLD OFF THE NEW ZEALAND COAST IN A 100 METERS OF WATER! (I kid you not, nor is it April Fool)
It reminds me of those answers we all wanted to know ,but were afraid to ask the questions!
Perhaps some one should tell them gold is not liquid nor do nuggets lie on the ocean floor!
The mind boggles at the difficulty of a successful outcome and its going to cost $40 million!
 Other wacky ideas i have been reading about is some scientist wants to shoot trillions of discs into the ionesphere to cool the world.I hope they do not do it as i bet there will be unforseen consequences!

Here  I intend giving the latest news ,that I have gleaned from the internet and shares on the South African Stock Exchange that bear watching.

Sappi has had an extremely poor record of late and poor results and has  fallen far behind the other shares,It should show some recovery,but it is still problematical if at this stage it wil pay any dividend..
Mondi also a forest product maker is probably the one to tip at the moment.

This week Brazil suffered a four hour power outage,said to be caused by growing pains of its rapidly increasing resource sector including Vale and Rio Tinto (MINEWEB NEWSLETTER)
